Peter Matthews is founder and managing director of Nucleus, the brand, internet and intellectual property consultancy that specialises in luxury and travel.
Peter has led Nucleus since its formation in 1979 and been responsible for developing its culture of award-winning creativity, entrepreneurialism and continuous innovation.
His 29 years’ experience spans brand strategy, brand creation, ecommerce and practicing what he preaches with start-up ventures like Luxury Explorer and the highly innovative sQuid eMoney payments system. His approach is customer-led and evidence-based, in order that goals are clearly defined and results easily measured.
Peter embraced the internet and e-commerce early and by the mid-1990’s was leading major e-commerce programmes for the likes of Sainsbury’s, First Direct and Asda. By 2001 he was convinced travel and luxury (two markets that remain close to his heart) were perfectly predisposed to e-commerce and set about exploiting the opportunity by focusing much of Nucleus’ resources on these two areas. As a result, Nucleus is now a leading provider of travel-related web solutions with clients that include: AiTO, Amanresorts, Haven Holidays, Holidaybreak, Maybourne Hotels Group, Ocean Village, Orient-Express, Priceline, Stein Hotels, Sunvil and others and has also created its own luxury travel business, Luxury Explorer.
